| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
crash: fix crashkernel resource shrink
When crashkernel is configured with a high reservation, shrinking its
value below the low crashkernel reservation causes two issues:
1. Invalid crashkernel resource objects
2. Kernel crash if crashkernel shrinking is done twice
For example, with crashkernel=200M,high, the kernel reserves 200MB of high
memory and some default low memory (say 256MB). The reservation appears
as:
cat /proc/iomem | grep -i crash
af000000-beffffff : Crash kernel
433000000-43f7fffff : Crash kernel
If crashkernel is then shrunk to 50MB (echo 52428800 >
/sys/kernel/kexec_crash_size), /proc/iomem still shows 256MB reserved:
af000000-beffffff : Crash kernel
Instead, it should show 50MB:
af000000-b21fffff : Crash kernel
Further shrinking crashkernel to 40MB causes a kernel crash with the
following trace (x86):

This happens because __crash_shrink_memory()/kernel/crash_core.c
incorrectly updates the crashk_res resource object even when
crashk_low_res should be updated.
Fix this by ensuring the correct crashkernel resource object is updated
when shrinking crashkernel memory. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/xe/guc: Add devm release action to safely tear down CT
When a buffer object (BO) is allocated with the XE_BO_FLAG_GGTT_INVALIDATE
flag, the driver initiates TLB invalidation requests via the CTB mechanism
while releasing the BO. However a premature release of the CTB BO can lead
to system crashes, as observed in:

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
PCI: cadence: Check for the existence of cdns_pcie::ops before using it
cdns_pcie::ops might not be populated by all the Cadence glue drivers. This
is going to be true for the upcoming Sophgo platform which doesn't set the
ops.
Hence, add a check to prevent NULL pointer dereference.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ftrace: Fix softlockup in ftrace_module_enable
A soft lockup was observed when loading amdgpu module.
If a module has a lot of tracable functions, multiple calls
to kallsyms_lookup can spend too much time in RCU critical
section and with disabled preemption, causing kernel panic.
This is the same issue that was fixed in
commit d0b24b4e91fc ("ftrace: Prevent RCU stall on PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY
kernels") and commit 42ea22e754ba ("ftrace: Add cond_resched() to
ftrace_graph_set_hash()").
Fix it the same way by adding cond_resched() in ftrace_module_enable. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: phy: micrel: always set shared->phydev for LAN8814
Currently, during the LAN8814 PTP probe shared->phydev is only set if PTP
clock gets actually set, otherwise the function will return before setting
it.
This is an issue as shared->phydev is unconditionally being used when IRQ
is being handled, especially in lan8814_gpio_process_cap and since it was
not set it will cause a NULL pointer exception and crash the kernel.
So, simply always set shared->phydev to avoid the NULL pointer exception. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
crypto: aspeed - fix double free caused by devm
The clock obtained via devm_clk_get_enabled() is automatically managed
by devres and will be disabled and freed on driver detach. Manually
calling clk_disable_unprepare() in error path and remove function
causes double free.
Remove the manual clock cleanup in both aspeed_acry_probe()'s error
path and aspeed_acry_remove(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netpoll: Fix deadlock in memory allocation under spinlock
Fix a AA deadlock in refill_skbs() where memory allocation while holding
skb_pool->lock can trigger a recursive lock acquisition attempt.
The deadlock scenario occurs when the system is under severe memory
pressure:
1. refill_skbs() acquires skb_pool->lock (spinlock)
2. alloc_skb() is called while holding the lock
3. Memory allocator fails and calls slab_out_of_memory()
4. This triggers printk() for the OOM warning
5. The console output path calls netpoll_send_udp()
6. netpoll_send_udp() attempts to acquire the same skb_pool->lock
7. Deadlock: the lock is already held by the same CPU
Call stack:
refill_skbs()
spin_lock_irqsave(&skb_pool->lock) <- lock acquired
__alloc_skb()
kmem_cache_alloc_node_noprof()
slab_out_of_memory()
printk()
console_flush_all()
netpoll_send_udp()
skb_dequeue()
spin_lock_irqsave(&skb_pool->lock) <- deadlock attempt
This bug was exposed by commit 248f6571fd4c51 ("netpoll: Optimize skb
refilling on critical path") which removed refill_skbs() from the
critical path (where nested printk was being deferred), letting nested
printk being called from inside refill_skbs()
Refactor refill_skbs() to never allocate memory while holding
the spinlock.
Another possible solution to fix this problem is protecting the
refill_skbs() from nested printks, basically calling
printk_deferred_{enter,exit}() in refill_skbs(), then, any nested
pr_warn() would be deferred.
I prefer this approach, given I _think_ it might be a good idea to move
the alloc_skb() from GFP_ATOMIC to GFP_KERNEL in the future, so, having
the alloc_skb() outside of the lock will be necessary step.
There is a possible TOCTOU issue when checking for the pool length, and
queueing the new allocated skb, but, this is not an issue, given that
an extra SKB in the pool is harmless and it will be eventually used. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
cpufreq: qcom-hw: Fix memory leak in qcom_cpufreq_hw_read_lut()
If "cpu_dev" fails to get opp table in qcom_cpufreq_hw_read_lut(),
the program will return, resulting in "table" resource is not released. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
md/raid10: fix memleak of md thread
In raid10_run(), if setup_conf() succeed and raid10_run() failed before
setting 'mddev->thread', then in the error path 'conf->thread' is not
freed.
Fix the problem by setting 'mddev->thread' right after setup_conf(). |

In the above issue, ioctl invokes the swap_inode_boot_loader function to
swap inode<5> and inode<12>. However, inode<5> contain incorrect imode and
disordered extents, and i_nlink is set to 1. The extents check for inode in
the ext4_iget function can be bypassed bacause 5 is EXT4_BOOT_LOADER_INO.
While links_count is set to 1, the extents are not initialized in
swap_inode_boot_loader. After the ioctl command is executed successfully,
the extents are swapped to inode<12>, in this case, run the `cat` command
to view inode<12>. And Bug_ON is triggered due to the incorrect extents.
When the boot loader inode is not initialized, its imode can be one of the
following:
1) the imode is a bad type, which is marked as bad_inode in ext4_iget and
set to S_IFREG.
2) the imode is good type but not S_IFREG.
3) the imode is S_IFREG.
The BUG_ON may be triggered by bypassing the check in cases 1 and 2.
Therefore, when the boot loader inode is bad_inode or its imode is not
S_IFREG, initialize the inode to avoid triggering the BUG. |

On further analysis, I realized that the second parameter to min() is
not correct. xfs_ifork::if_bytes is the size of the xfs_ifork::if_data
buffer. if_bytes can be smaller than the data fork size because:
(a) the forkoff code tries to keep the data area as large as possible
(b) for symbolic links, if_bytes is the ondisk file size + 1
(c) forkoff is always a multiple of 8.
Case in point: for a single-byte symlink target, forkoff will be
8 but the buffer will only be 2 bytes long.
In other words, the logic here is wrong and we walk off the end of the
incore buffer. Fix that. |

exfat: fix divide-by-zero in exfat_allocate_bitmap
The variable max_ra_count can be 0 in exfat_allocate_bitmap(),
which causes a divide-by-zero error in the subsequent modulo operation
(i % max_ra_count), leading to a system crash.
When max_ra_count is 0, it means that readahead is not used. This patch
load the bitmap without readahead. |

KVM: arm64: Fix debug checking for np-guests using huge mappings
When running with transparent huge pages and CONFIG_NVHE_EL2_DEBUG then
the debug checking in assert_host_shared_guest() fails on the launch of an
np-guest. This WARN_ON() causes a panic and generates the stack below.
In __pkvm_host_relax_perms_guest() the debug checking assumes the mapping
is a single page but it may be a block map. Update the checking so that
the size is not checked and just assumes the correct size.
While we're here make the same fix in __pkvm_host_mkyoung_guest().

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
arm64: mte: Avoid setting PG_mte_tagged if no tags cleared or restored
Prior to commit 69e3b846d8a7 ("arm64: mte: Sync tags for pages where PTE
is untagged"), mte_sync_tags() was only called for pte_tagged() entries
(those mapped with PROT_MTE). Therefore mte_sync_tags() could safely use
test_and_set_bit(PG_mte_tagged, &page->flags) without inadvertently
setting PG_mte_tagged on an untagged page.
The above commit was required as guests may enable MTE without any
control at the stage 2 mapping, nor a PROT_MTE mapping in the VMM.
However, the side-effect was that any page with a PTE that looked like
swap (or migration) was getting PG_mte_tagged set automatically. A
subsequent page copy (e.g. migration) copied the tags to the destination
page even if the tags were owned by KASAN.
This issue was masked by the page_kasan_tag_reset() call introduced in
commit e5b8d9218951 ("arm64: mte: reset the page tag in page->flags").
When this commit was reverted (20794545c146), KASAN started reporting
access faults because the overriding tags in a page did not match the
original page->flags (with CONFIG_KASAN_HW_TAGS=y):

Move the PG_mte_tagged bit setting from mte_sync_tags() to the actual
place where tags are cleared (mte_sync_page_tags()) or restored
(mte_restore_tags()). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: typec: ucsi: fix use-after-free caused by uec->work
The delayed work uec->work is scheduled in gaokun_ucsi_probe()
but never properly canceled in gaokun_ucsi_remove(). This creates
use-after-free scenarios where the ucsi and gaokun_ucsi structure
are freed after ucsi_destroy() completes execution, while the
gaokun_ucsi_register_worker() might be either currently executing
or still pending in the work queue. The already-freed gaokun_ucsi
or ucsi structure may then be accessed.
Furthermore, the race window is 3 seconds, which is sufficiently
long to make this bug easily reproducible. The following is the
trace captured by KASAN:
