CVSS v3.1 |
| Notepad++ is a free and open-source source code editor. An Unsafe Search Path vulnerability (CWE-426) exists in versions prior to 8.9.2 when launching Windows Explorer without an absolute executable path. This may allow execution of a malicious explorer.exe if an attacker can control the process working directory. Under certain conditions, this could lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the running application. Version 8.9.2 patches the issue. |
| Yubico libfido2 before 1.17.0, python-fido2 before 2.2.0, and yubikey-manager before 5.9.1 have an unintended DLL search path. |
| Untrusted search path in Microsoft Office allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code locally. |
| TimescaleDB is a time-series database for high-performance real-time analytics packaged as a Postgres extension. From version 2.23.0 to 2.25.1, PostgreSQL uses the search_path setting to locate unqualified database objects (tables, functions, operators). If the search_path includes user-writable schemas a malicious user can create functions in that schema that shadow builtin postgres functions and will be called instead of the postgres functions leading to arbitrary code execution during extension upgrade. This issue has been patched in version 2.25.2. |
| A weakness has been identified in UltraVNC 1.6.4.0 on Windows. This affects an unknown function in the library cryptbase.dll of the component Windows Service. This manipulation causes uncontrolled search path. The attack requires local access. A high degree of complexity is needed for the attack. The exploitability is reported as difficult. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. |
| Illustrator versions 29.8.4, 30.1 and earlier are affected by an Untrusted Search Path vulnerability that might allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. |
| Adobe Framemaker versions 2022.8 and earlier are affected by an Untrusted Search Path vulnerability that might allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. If the application uses a search path to locate critical resources such as programs, then an attacker could modify that search path to point to a malicious program, which the targeted application would then execute. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction. |
| Improper authentication in Windows Storage allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| A vulnerability was identified in Unidocs ezPDF DRM Reader and ezPDF Reader 2.0/3.0.0.4. This affects an unknown part in the library SHFOLDER.dll. Such manipulation leads to uncontrolled search path. The attack needs to be performed locally. Attacks of this nature are highly complex. It is indicated that the exploitability is difficult. The exploit is publicly available and might be used. Upgrading the affected component is recommended. The vendor explains: "[W]e have already addressed similar DLL search path vulnerability patterns through prior security updates. (...) Users are advised to use the latest version provided by the vendor." |
| A vulnerability was found in Patch My PC Home Updater up to 5.1.3.0. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing in the library advapi32.dll/BCrypt.dll/comctl32.dll/crypt32.dll/dwmapi.dll/gdi32.dll/gdiplus.dll/imm32.dll/iphlpapi.dll/kernel32.dll/mscms.dll/msctf.dll/ntdll.dll/ole32.dll/oleaut32.dll/PresentationNative_cor3.dll/secur32.dll/shcore.dll/shell32.dll/sspicli.dll/System.IO. The manipulation leads to uncontrolled search path. It is possible to launch the attack on the local host. The complexity of an attack is rather high. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. |
| A flaw has been found in Artifex MuPDF up to 1.26.1 on Windows. The impacted element is the function get_system_dpi of the file platform/x11/win_main.c. This manipulation causes uncontrolled search path. The attack requires local access. The attack is considered to have high complexity. The exploitability is regarded as difficult. Upgrading to version 1.26.2 is sufficient to resolve this issue. Patch name: ebb125334eb007d64e579204af3c264aadf2e244. Upgrading the affected component is recommended. |
| A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Discord up to 1.0.9177 on Windows. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality in the library profapi.dll. The manipulation leads to untrusted search path. The attack needs to be approached locally. The complexity of an attack is rather high. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. |
| Local privilege escalation due to a binary hijacking vulnerability. The following products are affected: Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud Agent (Windows) before build 39713. |
| There is a defect in the CPython standard library module “mimetypes” where on Windows the default list of known file locations are writable meaning other users can create invalid files to cause MemoryError to be raised on Python runtime startup or have file extensions be interpreted as the incorrect file type.
This defect is caused by the default locations of Linux and macOS platforms (such as “/etc/mime.types”) also being used on Windows, where they are user-writable locations (“C:\etc\mime.types”).
To work-around this issue a user can call mimetypes.init() with an empty list (“[]”) on Windows platforms to avoid using the default list of known file locations. |
| The Qualys Cloud Agent included a bundled uninstall script (qagent_uninstall.sh), specific to Mac and Linux supported versions that invoked multiple system commands without using absolute paths and without sanitizing the $PATH environment. If the uninstall script is executed with elevated privileges (e.g., via sudo) in an environment where $PATH has been manipulated, an attacker with root/sudo privileges could cause malicious executables to be run in place of the intended system binaries. This behavior can be leveraged for local privilege escalation and arbitrary command execution under elevated privileges. |
| Local privilege escalation due to DLL hijacking vulnerability. The following products are affected: Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud Agent (Windows) before build 39378. |
| The passprompt plugin in pppd in ppp before 2.5.2 mishandles privileges. |
| A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Postman up to 11.20 on Windows. This affects an unknown part in the library profapi.dll. The manipulation leads to untrusted search path. An attack has to be approached locally. The complexity of an attack is rather high. The exploitability is told to be difficult. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. |
| This vulnerability exists in AppSamvid software due to the usage of vulnerable and outdated components. An attacker with local administrative privileges could exploit this by placing malicious DLLs on the targeted system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system. |
| A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in libretro RetroArch up to 1.19.1 on Windows. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality in the library profapi.dll of the component Startup. The manipulation leads to untrusted search path. An attack has to be approached locally. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. |
