Firebird is an open-source relational database management system. In versions prior to 5.0.4, 4.0.7 and 3.0.14, the xdr_status_vector() function does not handle the isc_arg_cstring type when decoding an op_response packet, causing a server crash when one is encountered in the status vector. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending a crafted op_response packet to the server. This issue has been fixed in versions 5.0.4, 4.0.7 and 3.0.14.

Prior to 1.4.5, 1.5.5, and 1.6.0-beta.4, the POST /sync/offline_changes endpoint allows an unauthenticated attacker to create arbitrary directories and write a changes.json file with attacker-controlled JSON content anywhere on the server filesystem. The GET /sync/upload_finished endpoint allows an unauthenticated attacker to list arbitrary directory contents and read specific JSON files. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.4.5, 1.5.5, and 1.6.0-beta.4.

A vulnerability in the chmod utility of uutils coreutils allows users to bypass the --preserve-root safety mechanism. The implementation only validates if the target path is literally / and does not canonicalize the path. An attacker or accidental user can use path variants such as /../ or symbolic links to execute destructive recursive operations (e.g., chmod -R 000) on the entire root filesystem, leading to system-wide permission loss and potential complete system breakdown.

Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to version 1.20.1, a vulnerability in the SCM URL parsing used by Backstage integrations allowed path traversal sequences in encoded form to be included in file paths. When these URLs were processed by integration functions that construct API URLs, the traversal segments could redirect requests to unintended SCM provider API endpoints using the configured server-side integration credentials. This issue has been patched in version 1.20.1.

goshs is a SimpleHTTPServer written in Go. Prior to 2.0.0-beta.6, goshs contains an SFTP root escape caused by prefix-based path validation. An authenticated SFTP user can read from and write to filesystem paths outside the configured SFTP root, which breaks the intended jail boundary and can expose or modify unrelated server files. The SFTP subsystem routes requests through sftpserver/sftpserver.go into DefaultHandler.GetHandler() in sftpserver/handler.go, which forwards file operations into readFile, writeFile, listFile, and cmdFile. All of those sinks rely on sanitizePath() in sftpserver/helper.go. helper.go uses a raw string-prefix comparison, not a directory-boundary check. Because of that, if the configured root is /tmp/goshsroot, then a sibling path such as /tmp/goshsroot_evil/secret.txt incorrectly passes validation since it starts with the same byte prefix. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.0.0-beta.6.

A vulnerability in the rm utility of uutils coreutils allows the bypass of safeguard mechanisms intended to protect the current directory. While the utility correctly refuses to delete . or .., it fails to recognize equivalent paths with trailing slashes, such as ./ or .///. An accidental or malicious execution of rm -rf ./ results in the silent recursive deletion of all contents within the current directory. The command further obscures the data loss by reporting a misleading 'Invalid input' error, which may cause users to miss the critical window for data recovery.

The Perfmatters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion via path traversal in all versions up to, and including, 2.5.9.1. This is due to the `PMCS::action_handler()` method processing the `$_GET['delete']` parameter without any sanitization, authorization check, or nonce verification. The unsanitized filename is concatenated with the storage directory path and passed to `unlink()`. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server by using `../` path traversal sequences, including `wp-config.php` which would force WordPress into the installation wizard and allow full site takeover.

The MW WP Form plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Move/Read in all versions up to and including 5.1.1. This is due to insufficient validation of the $name parameter (upload field key) passed to the generate_user_file_dirpath() function, which uses WordPress's path_join() — a function that returns absolute paths unchanged, discarding the intended base directory. The attacker-controlled key is injected via the mwf_upload_files[] POST parameter, which is loaded into the plugin's Data model via _set_request_valiables(). During form processing, regenerate_upload_file_keys() iterates over these keys and calls generate_user_filepath() with the attacker-supplied key as the $name argument — the key survives validation because the targeted file (e.g., wp-config.php) genuinely exists at the absolute path. The _get_attachments() method then re-reads the same surviving keys and passes the resolved file path to move_temp_file_to_upload_dir(), which calls rename() to move the file into the uploads folder. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to move arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is moved (such as wp-config.php). The vulnerability is only exploitable if a file upload field is added to the form and the “Saving inquiry data in database” option is enabled.
