CVE-2024-49878 2 Linux, Redhat 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux 2025-11-03 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: resource: fix region_intersects() vs add_memory_driver_managed() On a system with CXL memory, the resource tree (/proc/iomem) related to CXL memory may look like something as follows. 490000000-50fffffff : CXL Window 0 490000000-50fffffff : region0 490000000-50fffffff : dax0.0 490000000-50fffffff : System RAM (kmem) Because drivers/dax/kmem.c calls add_memory_driver_managed() during onlining CXL memory, which makes "System RAM (kmem)" a descendant of "CXL Window X". This confuses region_intersects(), which expects all "System RAM" resources to be at the top level of iomem_resource. This can lead to bugs. For example, when the following command line is executed to write some memory in CXL memory range via /dev/mem, $ dd if=data of=/dev/mem bs=$((1 << 10)) seek=$((0x490000000 >> 10)) count=1 dd: error writing '/dev/mem': Bad address 1+0 records in 0+0 records out 0 bytes copied, 0.0283507 s, 0.0 kB/s the command fails as expected. However, the error code is wrong. It should be "Operation not permitted" instead of "Bad address". More seriously, the /dev/mem permission checking in devmem_is_allowed() passes incorrectly. Although the accessing is prevented later because ioremap() isn't allowed to map system RAM, it is a potential security issue. During command executing, the following warning is reported in the kernel log for calling ioremap() on system RAM. ioremap on RAM at 0x0000000490000000 - 0x0000000490000fff WARNING: CPU: 2 PID: 416 at arch/x86/mm/ioremap.c:216 __ioremap_caller.constprop.0+0x131/0x35d Call Trace: memremap+0xcb/0x184 xlate_dev_mem_ptr+0x25/0x2f write_mem+0x94/0xfb vfs_write+0x128/0x26d ksys_write+0xac/0xfe do_syscall_64+0x9a/0xfd entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x4b/0x53 The details of command execution process are as follows. In the above resource tree, "System RAM" is a descendant of "CXL Window 0" instead of a top level resource. So, region_intersects() will report no System RAM resources in the CXL memory region incorrectly, because it only checks the top level resources. Consequently, devmem_is_allowed() will return 1 (allow access via /dev/mem) for CXL memory region incorrectly. Fortunately, ioremap() doesn't allow to map System RAM and reject the access. So, region_intersects() needs to be fixed to work correctly with the resource tree with "System RAM" not at top level as above. To fix it, if we found a unmatched resource in the top level, we will continue to search matched resources in its descendant resources. So, we will not miss any matched resources in resource tree anymore. In the new implementation, an example resource tree |------------- "CXL Window 0" ------------| |-- "System RAM" --| will behave similar as the following fake resource tree for region_intersects(, IORESOURCE_SYSTEM_RAM, ), |-- "System RAM" --||-- "CXL Window 0a" --| Where "CXL Window 0a" is part of the original "CXL Window 0" that isn't covered by "System RAM".
CVE-2024-47740 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-11-03 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: f2fs: Require FMODE_WRITE for atomic write ioctls The F2FS ioctls for starting and committing atomic writes check for inode_owner_or_capable(), but this does not give LSMs like SELinux or Landlock an opportunity to deny the write access - if the caller's FSUID matches the inode's UID, inode_owner_or_capable() immediately returns true. There are scenarios where LSMs want to deny a process the ability to write particular files, even files that the FSUID of the process owns; but this can currently partially be bypassed using atomic write ioctls in two ways: - F2FS_IOC_START_ATOMIC_REPLACE + F2FS_IOC_COMMIT_ATOMIC_WRITE can truncate an inode to size 0 - F2FS_IOC_START_ATOMIC_WRITE + F2FS_IOC_ABORT_ATOMIC_WRITE can revert changes another process concurrently made to a file Fix it by requiring FMODE_WRITE for these operations, just like for F2FS_IOC_MOVE_RANGE. Since any legitimate caller should only be using these ioctls when intending to write into the file, that seems unlikely to break anything.
CVE-2024-47738 2 Linux, Redhat 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux 2025-11-03 3.3 Low
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211: don't use rate mask for offchannel TX either Like the commit ab9177d83c04 ("wifi: mac80211: don't use rate mask for scanning"), ignore incorrect settings to avoid no supported rate warning reported by syzbot. The syzbot did bisect and found cause is commit 9df66d5b9f45 ("cfg80211: fix default HE tx bitrate mask in 2G band"), which however corrects bitmask of HE MCS and recognizes correctly settings of empty legacy rate plus HE MCS rate instead of returning -EINVAL. As suggestions [1], follow the change of SCAN TX to consider this case of offchannel TX as well. CVE-2024-47734 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-11-03 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bonding: Fix unnecessary warnings and logs from bond_xdp_get_xmit_slave() syzbot reported a WARNING in bond_xdp_get_xmit_slave. To reproduce this[1], one bond device (bond1) has xdpdrv, which increases bpf_master_redirect_enabled_key. Another bond device (bond0) which is unsupported by XDP but its slave (veth3) has xdpgeneric that returns XDP_TX. This triggers WARN_ON_ONCE() from the xdp_master_redirect(). To reduce unnecessary warnings and improve log management, we need to delete the WARN_ON_ONCE() and add ratelimit to the netdev_err(). CVE-2024-47669 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-11-03 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix state management in error path of log writing function After commit a694291a6211 ("nilfs2: separate wait function from nilfs_segctor_write") was applied, the log writing function nilfs_segctor_do_construct() was able to issue I/O requests continuously even if user data blocks were split into multiple logs across segments, but two potential flaws were introduced in its error handling. First, if nilfs_segctor_begin_construction() fails while creating the second or subsequent logs, the log writing function returns without calling nilfs_segctor_abort_construction(), so the writeback flag set on pages/folios will remain uncleared. This causes page cache operations to hang waiting for the writeback flag. For example, truncate_inode_pages_final(), which is called via nilfs_evict_inode() when an inode is evicted from memory, will hang. Second, the NILFS_I_COLLECTED flag set on normal inodes remain uncleared. As a result, if the next log write involves checkpoint creation, that's fine, but if a partial log write is performed that does not, inodes with NILFS_I_COLLECTED set are erroneously removed from the "sc_dirty_files" list, and their data and b-tree blocks may not be written to the device, corrupting the block mapping. Fix these issues by uniformly calling nilfs_segctor_abort_construction() on failure of each step in the loop in nilfs_segctor_do_construct(), having it clean up logs and segment usages according to progress, and correcting the conditions for calling nilfs_redirty_inodes() to ensure that the NILFS_I_COLLECTED flag is cleared.

CVE-2024-47175 3 Debian, Openprinting, Redhat 8 Debian Linux, Libppd, Enterprise Linux and 5 more 2025-11-03 8.6 High
CUPS is a standards-based, open-source printing system, and `libppd` can be used for legacy PPD file support. The `libppd` function `ppdCreatePPDFromIPP2` does not sanitize IPP attributes when creating the PPD buffer. When used in combination with other functions such as `cfGetPrinterAttributes5`, can result in user controlled input and ultimately code execution via Foomatic. This vulnerability can be part of an exploit chain leading to remote code execution (RCE), as described in CVE-2024-47176.
CVE-2024-47076 2 Openprinting, Redhat 7 Libcupsfilters, Enterprise Linux, Rhel Aus and 4 more 2025-11-03 8.6 High
CUPS is a standards-based, open-source printing system, and `libcupsfilters` contains the code of the filters of the former `cups-filters` package as library functions to be used for the data format conversion tasks needed in Printer Applications. The `cfGetPrinterAttributes5` function in `libcupsfilters` does not sanitize IPP attributes returned from an IPP server. When these IPP attributes are used, for instance, to generate a PPD file, this can lead to attacker controlled data to be provided to the rest of the CUPS system.

(For the details, please refer https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/87plq9l5d2.ffs@tglx/) The HSW11 requires a period larger than 100 for the INST_RETIRED.ALL event, but the initial period in the freq mode is 1. The erratum is the same as the BDM11, which has been supported in the kernel. A minimum period of 128 is enforced as well on HSW. HSW143 is regarding that the fixed counter 1 may overcount 32 with the Hyper-Threading is enabled. However, based on the test, the hardware has more issues than it tells. Besides the fixed counter 1, the message 'interrupt took too long' can be observed on any counter which was armed with a period < 32 and two events expired in the same NMI. A minimum period of 32 is enforced for the rest of the events. The recommended workaround code of the HSW143 is not implemented. Because it only addresses the issue for the fixed counter. It brings extra overhead through extra MSR writing. No related overcounting issue has been reported so far.
CVE-2024-46846 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-11-03 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: rockchip: Resolve unbalanced runtime PM / system PM handling Commit e882575efc77 ("spi: rockchip: Suspend and resume the bus during NOIRQ_SYSTEM_SLEEP_PM ops") stopped respecting runtime PM status and simply disabled clocks unconditionally when suspending the system. This causes problems when the device is already runtime suspended when we go to sleep -- in which case we double-disable clocks and produce a WARNing. Switch back to pm_runtime_force_{suspend,resume}(), because that still seems like the right thing to do, and the aforementioned commit makes no explanation why it stopped using it. Also, refactor some of the resume() error handling, because it's not actually a good idea to re-disable clocks on failure.
CVE-2024-46828 2 Linux, Redhat 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux 2025-11-03 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sched: sch_cake: fix bulk flow accounting logic for host fairness In sch_cake, we keep track of the count of active bulk flows per host, when running in dst/src host fairness mode, which is used as the round-robin weight when iterating through flows. The count of active bulk flows is updated whenever a flow changes state. This has a peculiar interaction with the hash collision handling: when a hash collision occurs (after the set-associative hashing), the state of the hash bucket is simply updated to match the new packet that collided, and if host fairness is enabled, that also means assigning new per-host state to the flow. For this reason, the bulk flow counters of the host(s) assigned to the flow are decremented, before new state is assigned (and the counters, which may not belong to the same host anymore, are incremented again). Back when this code was introduced, the host fairness mode was always enabled, so the decrement was unconditional. When the configuration flags were introduced the *increment* was made conditional, but the *decrement* was not. Which of course can lead to a spurious decrement (and associated wrap-around to U16_MAX). AFAICT, when host fairness is disabled, the decrement and wrap-around happens as soon as a hash collision occurs (which is not that common in itself, due to the set-associative hashing). However, in most cases this is harmless, as the value is only used when host fairness mode is enabled. So in order to trigger an array overflow, sch_cake has to first be configured with host fairness disabled, and while running in this mode, a hash collision has to occur to cause the overflow. Then, the qdisc has to be reconfigured to enable host fairness, which leads to the array out-of-bounds because the wrapped-around value is retained and used as an array index. It seems that syzbot managed to trigger this, which is quite impressive in its own right. This patch fixes the issue by introducing the same conditional check on decrement as is used on increment. The original bug predates the upstreaming of cake, but the commit listed in the Fixes tag touched that code, meaning that this patch won't apply before that.

CVE-2024-46780 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-11-03 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: protect references to superblock parameters exposed in sysfs The superblock buffers of nilfs2 can not only be overwritten at runtime for modifications/repairs, but they are also regularly swapped, replaced during resizing, and even abandoned when degrading to one side due to backing device issues. So, accessing them requires mutual exclusion using the reader/writer semaphore "nilfs->ns_sem". Some sysfs attribute show methods read this superblock buffer without the necessary mutual exclusion, which can cause problems with pointer dereferencing and memory access, so fix it.
CVE-2024-46771 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-11-03 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: bcm: Remove proc entry when dev is unregistered. syzkaller reported a warning in bcm_connect() below. [0] The repro calls connect() to vxcan1, removes vxcan1, and calls connect() with ifindex == 0. Calling connect() for a BCM socket allocates a proc entry. Then, bcm_sk(sk)->bound is set to 1 to prevent further connect(). However, removing the bound device resets bcm_sk(sk)->bound to 0 in bcm_notify(). The 2nd connect() tries to allocate a proc entry with the same name and sets NULL to bcm_sk(sk)->bcm_proc_read, leaking the original proc entry. Since the proc entry is available only for connect()ed sockets, let's clean up the entry when the bound netdev is unregistered. CVE-2024-46711 2 Linux, Redhat 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux 2025-11-03 4.7 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: pm: fix ID 0 endp usage after multiple re-creations 'local_addr_used' and 'add_addr_accepted' are decremented for addresses not related to the initial subflow (ID0), because the source and destination addresses of the initial subflows are known from the beginning: they don't count as "additional local address being used" or "ADD_ADDR being accepted". It is then required not to increment them when the entrypoint used by the initial subflow is removed and re-added during a connection. Without this modification, this entrypoint cannot be removed and re-added more than once.
