CVE Vendors Products Updated CVSS v3.1
CVE-2026-70626 1 Nltk 1 Nltk 2026-08-24 6.2 Medium
NLTK versions before 3.9.4 contain a symlink escape vulnerability in CorpusReader.open() that allows local attackers to read arbitrary files outside the corpus root. The vulnerability exists because path validation is lexical and does not account for symlink resolution, enabling attackers to place symlinks inside the corpus root to access files outside the intended boundary.
CVE-2026-16980 1 Ibm 3 Aix, Powervm Vios, Vios 2026-08-24 6.3 Medium
IBM AIX 7.2, and 7.3 and IBM PowerVM VIOS 4.1 could allow a local attacker to cause a denial of service due to improper validation of symbolic links.
CVE-2026-0827 1 Lenovo 3 Diagnostics, Hardware Scan, Vantage 2026-08-24 7.1 High
During an internal security assessment, a potential vulnerability was discovered in Lenovo Diagnostics and the HardwareScanAddin used in Lenovo Vantage that, during installation or when using hardware scan, could allow a local authenticated user to perform an arbitrary file write with elevated privileges.
CVE-2026-55168 1 Runtipi 1 Runtipi 2026-08-21 6.5 Medium
Runtipi is a personal homeserver orchestrator. In 4.10.0 and earlier, Runtipi accepts symbolic links from an attacker-controlled backup archive and copies them into live application paths during the backup restore flow. An authenticated attacker can plant user-config/app.env as a symlink to an arbitrary reachable path and then send PUT /api/user-config/demoapp3:_user with attacker-controlled appEnv content. FilesystemService.writeTextFile() follows the planted link, allowing content to be written outside the intended restore and user-config directory boundary with Runtipi process permissions. This issue is fixed in version 4.10.1.
CVE-2026-17106 2 Docker, Moby 7 Desktop, Docker Cli, Docker Compose and 4 more 2026-08-21 N/A
The tar extraction routines in moby/go-archive (Unpack, UnpackLayer, Untar/UntarUncompressed, and the ApplyLayer helpers) do not confine filesystem operations to the destination directory. The extractor decides where each archive entry lands using lexical string checks and then performs the filesystem operation on a path that is resolved by the OS, so links introduced by the archive can be followed out of the destination directory. An attacker who controls the contents of an archive can create or overwrite files at arbitrary paths writable by the extracting process.
CVE-2026-47699 1 Confidential-containers 1 Guest-components 2026-08-21 6.4 Medium
Confidential Containers Guest Components provides guest tools and components for confidential container workloads. From 0.16.0 until 0.20.0, a crafted OCI image layer can make image_rs::stream::unpack::unpack() create a hardlink outside its destination directory. In image-rs/src/stream/unpack.rs, try_hardlink_fallback() validates the hardlink source but computes the destination with destination.join(&entry_rel). Rust Path::join replaces the base when entry_rel is an absolute tar entry path, so fs::hard_link(&src_canon, &dst_entry_abs) can write attacker-controlled content to an arbitrary absolute path. In Confidential Containers the workload owner already controls trusted image content, so the issue is a workload-owner escape into the pod virtual machine rather than a crossing of the image trust boundary, but it may enable access to pod virtual machine capabilities and attestation abuse. This issue is fixed in version 0.20.0.
CVE-2026-63125 1 Lxc 1 Incus 2026-08-21 9.9 Critical
Incus is a system container and virtual machine manager. Prior to version 7.3.0, an unprivileged, project-confined Incus user (a non-admin TLS/RBAC identity with `can_create_images` and `can_create_instances`) can execute arbitrary code as root on the host. A crafted image ships `backup.yaml` as a symlink to a host file. When the root daemon writes the instance's backup file, it follows the symlink. Version 7.3.0 patches the issue.
CVE-2026-49114 1 Onnx 1 Onnx 2026-08-21 7.1 High
In ONNX before 1.21.0, the 'save_external_data' function builds the external-data file path from the model's external_data location field and opens it for writing without 'O_NOFOLLOW/O_EXCL', after a non-atomic 'os.path.isfile()' check. A local attacker with write access to the directory where a victim serializes external data can deterministically pre-plant a symlink that is being followed, causing the victim's write to append to any file the victim can write, e.g. ~/.ssh/authorized_keys, cron files, or application configs. Fixed in 1.21.0.
CVE-2026-33694 1 Tenable 2 Nessus, Nessus Agent 2026-08-21 7.8 High
This vulnerability allows an attacker to create a junction, enabling the deletion of arbitrary files with SYSTEM privileges. As a result, this condition potentially facilitates arbitrary code execution, whereby an attacker may exploit the vulnerability to execute malicious code with elevated SYSTEM privileges.
CVE-2026-56796 1 Dell 2 Command Update, Dell Command Update (dcu) 2026-08-21 6.6 Medium
Dell Command Update (DCU), versions prior to 5.7.1, contain an Improper Link Resolution Before File Access ('Link Following') vulnerability. A low privileged attacker with local access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Elevation of Privileges.
CVE-2026-74880 1 Jahlives 1 Openssl Encrypt 2026-08-21 9.8 Critical
openssl_encrypt versions before 1.4.0 accept refresh tokens as URL query parameters in keyserver and telemetry server routes. Attackers can extract tokens from server logs, proxy logs, browser history, and HTTP Referer headers to gain unauthorized access.
CVE-2026-72694 2 Mrtgconfig, Redhat 2 Mrtg, Enterprise Linux 2026-08-20 7.1 High
A flaw was found in MRTG. When the MRTG daemon is started as a root user and subsequently drops privileges, a local, low-privileged attacker can exploit a symbolic link (symlink) following vulnerability. By influencing or pre-placing a symlink in the process ID (PID) file path, the attacker can trick the root process into changing the ownership of an arbitrary existing file to the daemon user. This can lead to local privilege escalation, allowing unauthorized access to or modification of sensitive files.
CVE-2026-76037 2 Google, Microsoft 2 Chrome, Windows 2026-08-20 8.4 High
Link following in CredentialProvider in Google Chrome on on Windows prior to 151.0.7922.169 allowed a local attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a local program. (Chromium security severity: High)
CVE-2026-47187 1 Libfuse 1 Sshfs 2026-08-20 9.3 Critical
SSHFS is a network filesystem client for connecting to SSH servers. Prior to version 3.7.6, a rogue SFTP server can return absolute symlink targets or relative targets containing parent-directory components that SSHFS passes through FUSE for resolution by the client kernel against the local filesystem. The documented transform_symlinks mitigation does not contain relative targets because transform_symlink() returns early at sshfs.c:2181, while sshfs_readlink() at sshfs.c:2234 to sshfs.c:2236 otherwise copies the server-supplied link target to the kernel. A victim or victim-side tool that follows such a link through ordinary operations such as cp, rsync, backup tooling, or an editor can disclose readable local files back to the server or write server-controlled content to writable local files, potentially including startup or scheduled-task files. This issue is fixed in version 3.7.6.
CVE-2026-63408 1 Getgrav 1 Grav-plugin-api 2026-08-19 7.5 High
Grav API Plugin is a RESTful API for Grav CMS that provides full headless access to your site's content. Prior to 1.0.0-rc.16, the Grav API plugin JwtAuthenticator::extractBearerToken() accepts a JWT from the token URL query parameter on every /api/v1 route, including state-changing endpoints. Request URLs consequently expose valid access tokens through Apache, proxy, and CDN logs, browser history, and Referer headers, allowing a party with access to those records to reuse the token with the owner's API privileges. This issue is fixed in version 1.0.0-rc.16.
CVE-2026-14966 2 Black Lantern Security, Blacklanternsecurity 2 Bbot, Bbot 2026-08-19 3.1 Low
BBOT's unarchive module rejects archives containing symlink entries before extraction, but for zip and 7z archives it failed to detect symlinks whose listing carries a DOS-attribute prefix before the unix mode, as produced by legacy versions of p7zip. Such an archive, downloaded and extracted during a scan (for example via filedownload), bypassed the guard and caused an attacker-controlled symlink to be written into the extraction directory. The effect is limited to planting the symlink (its target is not written through), and only hosts using such a legacy p7zip build are affected; current mainline 7-Zip is not.
CVE-2026-68407 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-19 5.3 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: nl80211: free RNR data on MBSSID mismatch nl80211_parse_beacon() rejects EMA RNR data when there are fewer RNR entries than MBSSID entries. The rejected RNR allocation has not been attached to the beacon data yet, so free it before returning the error.
CVE-2021-26889 1 Microsoft 9 Windows 10, Windows 10 1809, Windows 10 1909 and 6 more 2026-08-19 7.8 High
Windows Update Stack Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
CVE-2021-26887 1 Microsoft 19 Windows 10, Windows 10 1507, Windows 10 1607 and 16 more 2026-08-19 7.8 High
An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in Microsoft Windows when Folder redirection has been enabled via Group Policy. When folder redirection file server is co-located with Terminal server, an attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability would be able to begin redirecting another user's personal data to a created folder. To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker can create a new folder under the Folder Redirection root path and create a junction on a newly created User folder. When the new user logs in, Folder Redirection would start redirecting to the folder and copying personal data. This elevation of privilege vulnerability can only be addressed by reconfiguring Folder Redirection with Offline files and restricting permissions, and NOT via a security update for affected Windows Servers. See the FAQ section of this CVE for configuration guidance.
