CVSS v3.1 |
| A division-by-zero vulnerability in the CStreamSwitcherOutputPin::DecideBufferSize function of Aleksoid1978 MPC-BE before commit 4341cb3 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted MP4 file. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mm/damon/ops-common: handle extreme intervals in damon_hot_score()
Fix three issues in damon_hot_score() that comes from wrong handling of
extreme (zero or too high) monitoring intervals user setup.
When the user sets sampling interval zero, damon_max_nr_accesses(), which
is called from damon_hot_score(), causes a divide-by-zero. Needless to
say, it is a problem.
When the user sets the aggregation interval zero, the function returns
zero. It is wrong, since the real maximum nr_acceses in the setup should
be one. Worse yet, it can cause another divide-by-zero from its caller,
damon_hot_score(), since it uses damon_max_nr_accesses() return value as a
denominator.
When the user sets the aggregation interval very high, damon_hot_score()
could return a value out of [0, DAMOS_MAX_SCORE] range. Since the return
value is used as an index to the regions_score_histogram array, which is
DAMOS_MAX_SCORE+1 size, it causes out of bounds array access.
The issues can be relatively easily reproduced like below. The sysfs
write permission is required, though.
# ./damo start --damos_action lru_prio --damos_quota_space 100M \
--damos_quota_interval 1s
# cd /sys/kernel/mm/damon/admin/kdamonds/0
# echo 0 > contexts/0/monitoring_attrs/intervals/sample_us
# echo 0 > contexts/0/monitoring_attrs/intervals/aggr_us

Fix the divide-by-zero intervals problems by explicitly handling the zero
intervals in damon_max_nr_accesses(). Fix the out-of-bound array access
by applying [0, DAMOS_MAX_SCORE] bounds before returning from
damon_hot_score().
The issue was discovered [1] by Sashiko. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smb: client: fix oops due to unset link speed
It isn't guaranteed that NETWORK_INTERFACE_INFO::LinkSpeed will always
be set by the server, so the client must handle any values and then
prevent oopses like below from happening:

Fix this by setting cifs_server_iface::speed to a sane value (1Gbps)
by default when link speed is unset. |
| The logic to handle periodic Viridian STIMERs performs a division with an
unchecked user-controlled divisor value, that can be set to zero to cause a #DE
fault. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: gyro: adis16260: fix division by zero in write_raw
Add a validation check for the sampling frequency value before using it
as a divisor. A user writing zero to the sampling_frequency sysfs
attribute triggers a division by zero in the kernel. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: adc: nxp-sar-adc: fix division by zero in write_raw
Add a validation check for the sampling frequency value before using it
as a divisor. A user writing zero or a negative value to the
sampling_frequency sysfs attribute triggers a division by zero in the
kernel.
Also prevent unsigned integer underflow when the computed cycle count is
smaller than NXP_SAR_ADC_CONV_TIME, which would wrap the u32 inpsamp to
a huge value. |
| The DesignWare SPI driver (drivers/spi/spi_dw.c) computed the SPI BAUDR clock divider as info->clock_frequency / config->frequency without validating config->frequency.
spi_transceive is a Zephyr __syscall and its verify handler (drivers/spi/spi_handlers.c) copies the caller-supplied spi_config from userspace without checking the frequency field, so a userspace thread that has been granted access to a DesignWare SPI device kernel object can pass frequency = 0 and trigger an unsigned integer divide-by-zero in spi_dw_configure().
On Cortex-M Mainline (SCB->CCR.DIV_0_TRP is set in z_arm_fault_init()) and on ARC (a dedicated __ev_div_zero vector) this raises a CPU exception, resulting in a kernel fault and local denial of service.
The fix rejects zero frequency and frequencies above clock_frequency / 2 (the DesignWare SSI databook minimum SCKDIV of 2) with -EINVAL. The defect affects all Zephyr releases up to and including v4.4.0; exploitation requires CONFIG_USERSPACE=y and an unprivileged thread already granted SPI driver permission. There is no memory-corruption or information-disclosure impact. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: chemical: scd30: fix division by zero in write_raw
Add a zero check for val2 before using it as a divisor when setting the
sampling frequency. A user writing a zero fractional part to the
sampling_frequency sysfs attribute triggers a division by zero in the
kernel. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
batman-adv: tp_meter: avoid divide-by-zero for dec_cwnd
The cwnd is always MSS <= cwnd <= 0x20000000. But the calculation in
batadv_tp_update_cwnd() assumes unsigned 32 bit arithmetics.
((mss * 8) ** 2) / (cwnd * 8)
In case cwnd is actually 0x20000000, it will be shifted by 3 bit to the
left end up at 0x100000000 or U32_MAX + 1. It will therefore wrap around
and be 0 - resulting in:
((mss * 8) ** 2) / 0
This is of course invalid and cannot be calculated. The calculation should
must be simplified to avoid this overflow:
(mss ** 2) * 8 / cwnd
It will keep the precision enhancement from the scaling (by 8) but avoid
the overflow in the divisor.
In theory, there could still be an overflow in the dividend. It is at the
moment fixed to BATADV_TP_PLEN in batadv_tp_recv_ack() - so it is not an
imminent problem. But allowing it to use the whole u32 bit range, would
mean that it can still use up to 67 bits. To keep this calculation safe for
32 bit arithmetic, mss must never use more than floor((32 - 3) / 2) bits -
or in other words: must never be larger than 16383. |
| A divide-by-zero vulnerability in the Productivity Suite allows a local
attacker to cause a division by zero leading to a system crash. |
| FatFs R0.16 and earlier contains a divide-by-zero in exFAT sync logic bug when crafted metadata causes n_fatent - 2 to be zero during write/sync operations. This maps to CWE-369 (Divide By Zero). Estimated CVSS v3.1 vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:P/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H (4.6, Medium). Network-delivered update media can make this remote in some pipelines. The estimated CISA SSVC vectors are Exploitation: PoC, Technical Impact: Partial. |
| A flaw has been found in RT-Thread up to 5.2.2. Affected is the function read/write/sys_ioctl of the file components/lwp/lwp_syscall.c of the component Parameter Handler. Executing a manipulation can lead to divide by zero. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploit has been published and may be used. The pull request to fix this issue awaits acceptance. |
| A security vulnerability has been detected in GPAC 26.03-DEV-rev342-g80071f700-master. The impacted element is the function txtin_probe_duration of the file src/filters/load_text.c of the component TeXML File Handler. Such manipulation of the argument txml_timescale leads to divide by zero. An attack has to be approached locally. The name of the patch is 86a5191f2e750c767253e27ed6cfd6d547afebc2. A patch should be applied to remediate this issue. |
| In EmberZNet v9.0.2 and earlier, a malformed Level Control Move command can terminate the process through a divide-by-zero fault. This command must come from a device that has already joined the network. Only devices supporting the Level Control cluster may be impacted. |
| In EmberZNet v9.0.2 and earlier, a malformed Level Control Step command can terminate the process through a divide-by-zero fault. This command must come from a device that has already joined the network. Only devices supporting the Level Control cluster may be impacted. |
| GPAC MP4Box v2.4 was discovered to contain a floating point exception in the avidmx_process function (isomedia/isom_write.c). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ASoC: SOF: Don't allow pointer operations on unconfigured streams
When reporting the pointer for a compressed stream we report the current
I/O frame position by dividing the position by the number of channels
multiplied by the number of container bytes. These values default to 0 and
are only configured as part of setting the stream parameters so this allows
a divide by zero to be configured. Validate that they are non zero,
returning an error if not |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
sound: ua101: fix division by zero at probe
Add a missing sanity check for bNrChannels in detect_usb_format()
to prevent a division by zero in playback_urb_complete() and
capture_urb_complete().
USB core does not validate class-specific descriptor fields such
as bNrChannels, so drivers must verify them before use. If a
device provides bNrChannels = 0, frame_bytes becomes zero and is
later used as a divisor in the URB completion handlers, leading
to a kernel crash. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
md/raid10: fix divide-by-zero in setup_geo() with zero far_copies
setup_geo() extracts near_copies (nc) and far_copies (fc) from the
user-provided layout parameter without checking for zero. When fc=0
with the "improved" far set layout selected, 'geo->far_set_size =
disks / fc' triggers a divide-by-zero.
Validate nc and fc immediately after extraction, returning -1 if
either is zero. |
| A divide-by-zero vulnerability in the ext4_block_set_lb_size function in src/ext4_blockdev.c of the lwext4 1.0.0 library allows attackers to cause a denial of service by providing a malformed ext4 filesystem image that results in a zero logical block size. The vulnerability is triggered during mount or image processing and leads to a Floating-Point Exception (FPE) under sanitizers or a runtime crash in standard builds due to missing validation of lb_size. |
